MÁQUINAS DE INGENIO.JAKINTZEN BIDEGURUTZEAN , TABAKALERA, DONOSTI
Synopsis
IN COLLABORATION WITH GOGOA AND TEKNIKER
Exoskeletons, like the one shown here, are prostheses used for the controlled activation of the body’s motor functions. They are used in neurophysical therapies, for example in patients with multiple sclerosis like Amaia Vicente, who was diagnosed in 2002. Creative experimentation around the boundaries between machine and organism, like this piece and many other artworks, raises questions about what is considered a “normal body”, as well as about technology’s ability to influence the plasticity of the brain and learning processes.
